A smartphone is a mobile phone with advanced features such as Music player, Camera, Document reader (PDF, Word, Powerpoint, Excel), Web Browser, QWERTY keyboard, Touch screen, Accelerometer, GPS, TV output etc. In short, a smartphone offers PC like functionality on the small mobile screen.
Smartphones can be divided into two main categories, one with an identifiable operating system, such as Symbian, Windows mobile, Linux, Blackberry, Palm, Mac etc., and the other based on Java platform. Examples of former are Nokia N95, Blackberry Pearl, HTC Touch, Palm Treo 750, Apple iphone etc. and that of latter are Sony Ericsson C905, Nokia 6233, LG KC550 etc.Both types of Smartphone can offer the advanced features mentioned above, but one with an operating system has an upper edge. Operating system such as symbian, windows mobile or linux offers a platform to first party as well as third party application developers, thus expanding the functionality of a mobile phone.

The difference between the smart phone and regular phone are that, smart phones have the operating system just same as the operating system of the PC. Means smart phones are more similar to PC or laptop in functionality. Like Nokia phone uses Syambian OS for regular phone, while in smart phone like HTC uses Windows OS . So if u are looking for smart phone , I would suggest you guys to buy smart phones with MAC or Linux operating system. Because the windows based smart phone can easily get infected by viruses . Since 90% virus files are supported by windows and not by other operating system. Hope you can select the better phone now.
